Set sail on an extraordinary 10 day Mediterranean journey!
Following a community vote, we are thrilled to announce our next major journey: a breathtaking spring cruise from Barcelona to Rome, featuring incredible stopovers along the sun-drenched coasts of Spain, France, and Italy.
The Voyage at a Glance
- Dates: April 18 – April 28, 2027
- Travel: Round-trip flights on Delta Air Lines, departing directly from Boston
- Route: Barcelona, Spain to Rome, Italy (with varied ports of call in France)
- Ship: The Wind Surf (Windstar Cruises)

An Intimate Yacht-Style Experience: We are sailing aboard the Wind Surf, the flagship 5-masted sailing vessel of the Windstar fleet. Uncrowded and intimate (hosting no more than 342 guests), the ship accesses secluded harbors and exclusive coastal towns that massive ocean liners simply cannot reach.
Faith, Culture & History Combined: Designed to accommodate varied activity levels and interests, our itinerary balances iconic destinations with accessible exploration:
- Spiritual Highlights: Visit Barcelona’s famous Sagrada Familia Basilica, visit maritime churches like Notre Dame des Anges in Collioure and San Giorgio in Portofino, reflect at Elba’s Misericordia Church (home to Napoleon’s death mask), and conclude with a private tour of the Vatican, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the Sistine Chapel in Rome.
- Coastal Glamour & Secluded Coves: Stroll the vibrant streets of Palamós, Sanary-sur-Mer, Monte Carlo, Cannes, and Portofino.
- Curated Private Excursions: Optional custom experiences range from medieval village tours (Girona, Pals) and French Riviera boat trips to coastal walks, perfumery workshops in Grasse, and traditional pesto-making in Liguria.

Windstar Cruises premier Mediterranean voyage in April 2027 titled the Yachtsman’s Harbors of the Rivieras, sails between Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia). This port-intensive itinerary leverages the small size of the flagship sailing yacht Wind Surf to access exclusive, glitzy harbors that massive cruise ships cannot physically enter. True to its name, the voyage delivers a quintessential yachting lifestyle, blending upscale Mediterranean culture with historic coastal towns.
The journey serves as a masterclass in scenic European coastal travel, featuring iconic calls along the French and Italian Rivieras. Guests can walk the glamorous, yacht-lined boardwalks of Monte Carlo and Cannes, with both ports offering extended late-night stays so travelers can immerse themselves in the local culture. The itinerary seamlessly balances these jet-setter havens with the pastel-colored, tranquil fishing village of Portofino and the sun-bleached coastal medieval walls of Palamos, Spain.
Beyond the marquee cities, the itinerary highlights hidden gems nestled along the coast. Combined with Windstar’s country-club-casual elegance, uncrowded shipboard environments, and open-air dining, this itinerary offers an unmatched perspective on the most well loved coastlines in the world.
And don’t forget Windstar’s famous for the Unfurling of the Sails.
One of Windstar’s most famous traditions is sailing out of port accompanied by Vangelis’s “1492: Conquest of Paradise” as the massive sails unfurl overhead—an unforgettable memory for our community group!
